As a field biologist, I spend a LOT of time in the woods, fields and wetlands, and I cannot imagine giving that up. I also have personal experience with tick bites, though, thankfully, I was successfully treated. I founded Ticktogs to offer everyone the protection I had developed for my own family and island community at Cape Cod, and a way to protect yourself while out on the extensive trails on public land.

On the Elizabeth Islands we have such high tick densities, and infection rates among our three tick species, that we have often been the site of tick studies by such New England experts as Dr. Tom Mather and Dr. Sam Telford.  We started losing visitors because of our reputation for ticks and their afflictions.  

So I created the first Ticktogs ten years ago, tested and refined them, and began providing them to my community. People feel less anxious and more protected in nature wearing their Ticktogs, I sure do.

This year I found I had the time to offer these to the wider world. The best ripstop nylon was sourced outside the US. I hired a local company to cut and sew the Ticktogs, and Insect Shield® has treated them. A good big batch is ready  just in time for tick season. Put on Ticktogs and savor nature again!
